Luis
Pacheco Vazquez has worked with silver for the last 21 years. He was taught
his craft by his wife's grandfather who was a silversmith his entire life.
Luis'
and Ana Lilia's designs are inspired by northern Mexico's culture as he
resides in the Copper Canyon area of Chihuahua with its many Indian legends
and colorful history. Their ideas spring from the Paquime, Tarahumara
and other cultures from that area of Mexico. They also gain inspiration
from the Chametla culture of Sinaloa and the many petroglyphs found there.
Before beginning
a new piece of jewelry, Luis researches the anthropological data for the
design he intends to use. In this way, he helps to preserve the integrity
of the Pre-Hispanic culture from which the design originates and feels
this adds value to the unique piece of handmade jewelry he is creating.
This
will be the pair's first time at Feria Maestros
del Arte. Their wonderful handcrafted silver jewlery will be highly
sought after, I'm sure. If
