About MexicoEtc Marianne Carlson has been dabbling in miniatures for over 20 years. She had a miniature catalog while still in the U.S. that never quite got off the ground because she made the move south of the border. Now living in Ajijic, Marianne operates Galería Maestros del Arte in the state of Jalisco, Mexico in addition to the MexicoEtc website. In 2002, Marianne
created Feria Maestros
del Arte - a special art exhibition held in Ajijic of Mexican
folk artists not often seen at public events. The mission of Feria
Maestros del Arte is to promote the rapidly disappearing indigenous
art of Mexico. Shirley
Mayfield is originally
from Dallas, Texas, and has been involved in miniatures for over 10
years. Her mini-career began with the purchase of a dollhouse kit -
she was hooked. A few classes followed and the rest is history. Shirley
lives in Ajijic and splits her time between creating
her miniatures and following her husband, Jerry, to his “gigs” -
he has the only country western band in Mexico: South of the Border
