| José Flores Fabric Art - Original Designs & Embroidery In 2003, Feria Maestros del Arte, welcomed a local artist to the show. Guadalajara Mexican clothing designer, José Flores, has been creating his unique and original designs for 35 years. Much of his work is based on Indian motifs and form of design. He is self-taught and creates in cotton and manmade fibers. Often his garments are embroidered extensively with silk thread. Working in traditional Mexican forms, José's inspiration is to create distinctive designs of high quality with exceptional attention to detail. The use of natural fibers is his way of expressing his respect for materials coming from the earth. His trademark is the silk embroidery and the bright, rich colors he emblazons on the clothing he sews himself. Many of his garments are embroidered from top to bottom, front and back. They are eye-catching and distinctive. I first saw his work at a show in Guadalajara, I took his card and put it in a spot I wouldn't forget - I was going to have one of his creations some day. For the last two years, José has hosted a fashion show of his exclusive designs, some of which have been made especially for sale at Feria Maestros del Arte. Local Ajijic residents model the exquisite designs and illustrate how this clothing might look on you. Sit and enjoy a fine Mexican meal prepared right in La Huerta or sip a glass of wine while watching the models sachet by.
